Morning Meeting Games: #1 – Doggy, Doggy, Where’s Your Bone?

This entertaining game involves one person holding an item such as an eraser, marker, or similar object. That person closes their eyes while another takes the item and places it in their pocket. The class then chants, “Doggy, doggy, where’s your bone? Somebody took it when you weren’t home.” The “doggy” gets three chances to guess who took it. The individual who took the object becomes the next “doggy.”

Morning Meeting Games: #2 – Charades

Charades is a game in which players act out a word or phrase without speaking, while the other players try to guess what the word or phrase is. It’s a fun way to test your communication skills and creativity. You can either give kids a deck of cards of things to act out or make up your own. Charades is a great game for students to play together, as it can be enjoyable for both young players and older elementary students alike. Enjoy!

Morning Meeting Games: #3 – The Voice

Here’s a fun game to play with your students. Have one student turn their back to the class and select another student to be “The Voice.” The Voice then disguises their voice and says “Hello,” while the guesser tries to guess their identity.

Morning Meeting Games: #4 – Ask Me Anything

Spice up your class with a fun activity called “The Hot Seat.” Choose a student to take the hot seat by standing in front of the class. Then, have other students take turns asking the student any questions they want. This is a great way to get everyone involved and thinking on their feet! You can set rules beforehand to zero in on norms and expectations and “appropriate” questions. This is a great way to get to sknow your students!

Morning Meeting Games: #5 – Hot & Cold

Here’s a fun game to play with your students: choose one to leave the room while you hide an object in the classroom. When they return, take turns providing clues about the object’s location using “hot” (when they’re close) or “cold” (when they’re far away).

Morning Meeting Games: #6 – Exercise Class

Why not have a student lead the class in exercises? They can choose from a range of activities, including sit-ups, push-ups, and jumping jacks. It’s a great way to engage and motivate your class while giving students a chance to take on a leadership role.
